Australasian Telephone Collectors Society - Qld Inc. Membership

A group of keen telephone collectors started the club in Sydney.

Roughly 20 years later in 1996, a small sub-branch was formed in Brisbane to provide a local point for sharing of telecommunications history, information and knowledge.

We hold bi-monthly meetings on the third Saturday of January, March, May, July, September and November starting at 1.30pm (approx) at various locations in and around Brisbane as advised. Most of our meetings are held at the Telecommunications Museum at Clayfield (Brisbane).

Whilst our meetings spend a short time on the business of operating the club, our main focus is on what we call our 'Theme". These can be a variety of sessions to teach, explain, display, and to demonstrate care and restoration. From time to time we will also arrange our meeting at district museums or other places of interest.

During the 2024 year we had some interesting "themes". Our typical year included...

  • Wall mounted Telephones (January).
  • Dials and Keypads (March).
  • Caboolture Historical Village (May).
  • After an extended COVID hiatus, we enjoyed our display weekend at Pimpama (July).
  • Payphones and a guided tour of the Telecommunications Museum (September).
  • Our pre-Christmas meeting and family social.

    • Since 2006 we have held an annual Telephone Show, except for an extended Covid interruption. This event has been held in conjunction with the South Coast Restoration Society annual rally (at Pimpama).
